BROOKLYN, NY —  New York City Police charged 24 people in the biggest bust in Brooklyn history, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.

Documents show that of the 24 people arrested, 22 are from Virginia, 1 is from D.C. and another man is from Brooklyn.

Eric Gonzalez, the acting Brooklyn District Attorney, said all 24 have been charged with weapons offenses and conspiracy for trafficking guns.

A total of 217 firearms were recovered in a gun trafficking conspiracy where guns were purchased in Virginia to be sold on the streets of Brooklyn, said Gonzalez.

During the press conference, Gonzalez said, three men were identified as the leaders of the conspiracy including a Damian King a.k.a. Havoc, from Bristow, Virginia.

“In this unique case, we charged more defendants and recovered more firearms than in any other case in Brooklyn’s history,” Gonzalez said.

The indictment revealed that some of the firearms recovered include, handguns, rifles, and assault-type weapons.

Gonzalez said many of the defendants are associated with Blood gangs in Virginia and Brooklyn. Court ordered wiretaps revealed that the defendants are allegedly heard labeling themselves traffickers and mocking Virginia’s weak gun laws.

“Between June 2016 and February 2017 the defendants allegedly conspired to sell guns purchased in Virginia to a purchaser in Brooklyn,” said the indictment. “The investigation included the use of electronic communications intercepted pursuant to court order, as well as physical and video surveillance.”

Gonzalez said that the defendants allegedly used proceeds from the trafficking conspiracy to fund a “lavish lifestyle, purchasing drugs, jewelry, clothing, and sneakers, in addition to sending money to jailed associates.”
