A Prince George’s K9 officer passes away

PRINCE GEORGE’S CO., MD — The police department in Prince George’s County is mourning the loss of one of their K9 officers.

K9 Tron passed away on Friday, February 17th after becoming ill the night before.Tron was rushed to a veterinary hospital where doctors discovered that he was suffering from an aggressive form of blood cancer that had spread to several organs.

Tron had been in the force since September 2010 as a patrol and drug detection dog. The K9 was known as the ‘faithful partner’ of Sergeant Nick Cicale. During his career, the Prince George’s County Police Department says Tron successfully found several dangerous suspects, as well as many pieces of evidence.

He also received four gold medals during the 2015 World Police and Fire Games.

Tron passed away at the age of 7.
