FAIRFAX CO., Va. --  Fairfax County Police say that nine people are in custody in connection with several gang-related cases.

Tuesday night, police reported that 17 year old Venus Lorena Romero Iraheta returned home safe, after being gone for more than a month. Police announced Wednesday morning that Venus Ireheta is in custody. However, due to her age, police say they cannot reveal whether she's facing any criminal charges.

Venus Lorena Romero Iraheta ran away from home in Alexandria on January 15. In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, police upgraded Iraheta's status to an endangered missing teen following new developments into her investigation.

Police said her case overlaps with other cases they are currently investigating in the area, including, the recent human remains found in Fairfax on Saturday, Feb.11. Those remains belonged to 15-year-old Damaris Reyes Rivas, who went missing from Montgomery County in December 10, 2016.  Police are now investigating Reyes Rivas' death as a murder.

Officers believe both cases are affiliated with gangs.
