PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A coach with a youth organization in Laurel has been arrested on charges of second degree rape and multiple other sex offenses involving an 18-year-old relative of his, as well as her friend.

Warner Murphy, 35, has been accused by his relative of sexually assaulting her “almost daily” since Nov. 2016. She reported these crimes to police on Jan. 30.

Her friend also stepped forward, and Murphy was charged with additional sex offenses after police investigated these other allegations.

Murphy was arrested at his home in the 1400 block of Yardam Way.

Due in part to his position as a youth coach, detectives think there may be additional victims. They ask anyone has information to please contact the Laurel Police Department Criminal Investigations Division Detective Henderson at 301-498-0092.
