FAIRFAX CITY, VA –  Voters in Fairfax City elected David Meyer as their new mayor. The special election was held today to replace the city’s former mayor R. Scott Silverthorne.

Silverthorne, a three-time mayor, was arrested last summer, police say he offered meth to an undercover officer in a hotel at Tysons Corner. Silverthorne resigned a week after he was arrested and the city council voted to make Steven Stombres the interim mayor.

Three members of the city council ran to replace him, including Eleanor Schmidt, Michael DeMarco and tonight’s winner, David Meyer.

Meyer won 42.14% of the vote with all precincts reporting.
