Firefighters battle trash fire in Fairfax County

LORTON, Va. – The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department battled a fire at a recycling and disposal center in Lorton, Virginia.

According to officials, the fire broke out Thursday night in the 9800 block of Furnace Road. It started as two-alarm fire. Firefighters were still on the scene Friday morning. Officials say that nearly three stories of trash were on fire inside in the incinerator. They added that the flames extended beyond the roofline of the center.
