Video of homicide shows suspected shooter walk right up to victim

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A surveillance video from right outside a strip mall in Northeast shows a suspected killer walk right up to the man police think he may have shot.

The shooting took place in the 1600 block of Benning Road on Jan. 24. Police reported to the location for the sound of gunshots, where they found a man suffering from what were ultimately fatal gunshot wounds.

The victim is Willie Starkley, 35, from Northeast.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.  Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
