ROCKVILLE, Md. – After an extensive investigation, Montgomery County Police arrested 20 year old Roger Miller Jr., Monday, for allegedly murdering his five month old son in October.

Tuesday, Miller was denied bond in District Court in Rockville.

Miller is accused of shaking his 5 month old son, Darrell Barnes to death.  Miller is held on first degree child abuse resulting in death and first degree child abuse resulting in injury.

Investigators said baby Barnes was home alone with Miller in October, when he started gasping for air, bleeding, and vomiting.

Court documents show the infant sustained head trauma and was rushed to Children’s National Medical Center, where he eventually died of brain and spinal injuries.

“After an autopsy, it was determined the injuries were consistent with severe shaking,”  explained Ramon Korionoff with the Montgomery County States Attorney.

If convicted, 20 year old Miller could face up to 40 years in prison.
