Metro worker rescued from maintenance shaft

BETHESDA, Md. – Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services reports that a metro worker was rescued after falling down a maintenance shaft near the Bethesda metro station.

According to officials, they received the call around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning. When they arrived at the intersection of Elm Street and Wisconsin Avenue, they found an adult male who had fallen between 20 and 30 feet to nearly 35 feet below grade.

The worker was rescued from the shaft around 5 a.m. on Thursday . Officials say that he has non-life threatening injuries.
