WASHINGTON, D.C. - Dozens prayed, mediated, and chanted in The Park at LeDroit in memory of Tricia McCauley. Pictures and memories of the 46 year old were posted on the fence of the city farm where she was an herbalist.
Josh, a friend of McCauley's says, "She was a dear friend to all of us. A kind, kind soul. Just, don’t forget what she’s done."
This was the second vigil of the night for McCauley…as people marched here with candles from the nearby yoga studio where she was an instructor.
"She’s always went above and beyond what she needed to do. And you could just feel the love that she felt for people everywhere she went. She just always cared about people and you could just feel that, it was just an essence about her," one of her co-workers told us.
McCauley’s body was found in her car in Northwest D-C around midnight Monday…more than a day after she was last seen. The medical examiner says she had been strangled.
Police found 29-year-old Adrian Duane Johnson in a C-V-S nearby and arrested him. He was the man police believed to be driving McCauly's car. Officers say they were already looking for him in a separate case in which he assaulted employees at another CVS store earlier Monday morning. On Tuesday afternoon, police announced they had charged him with first degree murder. Officials do not believe the two knew each other.
Police are still trying to piece together the details of this case. Investigators say they've mapped several times and spots throughout the city where they believe Johnson was on Monday and are asking the public to contact them if they have more information. Those locations are listed below.
