Police recover five pounds of marijuana in traffic stop

ANNE ARUNDEL, Md. — Anne Arundel detectives were conducting undercover drug surveillance in the Annapolis area on Tuesday when they pulled a car over for a traffic violation and caught the strong odor of marijuana.

A passenger fled the vehicle, assaulted the detectives and ran away. There was a brief pursuit and a struggle, after which they were able to arrrest the suspect. Neither the suspect nor the detectives were injured.

They apprehended Gregory Pinkney, 22, and a 16-year-old girl he had in the car with him. From the car, they recovered five pounds of marijuana, 30 milligrams of Xanax, and some cash.

Both were charged with possession of controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
