PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — An officer who was arrested and had his police powers suspended in June of this year was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday.

Juan Hernandez is charged with second degree assault and misconduct in office. He’s been with PGPD for eleven years. Internal Affairs launched an investigation into his conduct, and presented the case to the State’s Attorney.

“I expect our officers to serve this community in a professional manner at all times. Our department is committed to constitutional and ethical policing,” said Chief Hank Stawinski in regard to the charges.

Before his suspension, Hernandez was assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.
