Police: Man who fired weapon where teen was killed arrested

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of a man seen firing a gun near where a teen was killed in Southeast, D.C. According to officials, 30-year-old Saeve Evans had an outstanding arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Officials say that on Friday, November 25th, officers arrived in the 1200 block of I Street, Southeast around 11:42 a.m. Upon arrival, they found 16-year-old Breyona McMillian suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Saeve Evans was seen in the area, in possession of and discharging a firearm. On Tuesday, Evans turned himself in to the Metropolitan Police Department, officials say. Police say that he has been arrested and charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm.
