FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Two teens who went missing earlier this fall may be in danger, police say, after investigation indicated they were acquaintances who were both affiliated with gangs.

The disappearances appeared to be unrelated at first. Edvin Mendez, 17, was reported missing Sept. 1 and Sergio Triminio, 14, wasn’t reported missing until Oct. 4. Police investigation indicates he had actually been missing since Sept. 27.

Since they realized the cases were linked, police have stepped up their efforts to find the two teens. New information has also been uncovered that indicates Mendez and Triminio may be in danger.
