Man struck and killed by U-Haul truck in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred in Northeast, D.C. early Wednesday morning.

Police say that the operator of a U-Haul truck was traveling in the westbound lane of New York Avenue, Northeast around 12:14 a.m. on Wednesday. As the truck crossed the intersection of 4th Street, Northeast, it struck a pedestrian who was in the travel lane. The driver of the U-Haul stayed on the scene. According to officials, the victim was an adult male who succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. At this time, the decedent has not been identified.
