STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A weeks-long investigation by the Stafford sheriff’s office paid off this past Wednesday when detectives executed a search warrant and found money, guns, and large quantities of heroin at a couple’s Elkton Drive apartment.

The suspects, Darrell Edwards, 32, and April Coles, 33, were both charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin. Edwards was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with schedule 1 narcotics.

As a result of their investigation, detectives had an arrest warrant out for Edwards, and when he returned to his apartment on Oct. 19, they took him into custody. At that time, they used the search warrant they had for him, and discovered the firearms, money and drugs in Edwards’ apartment and car.

During the search, law enforcement found probable cause to arrest Coles as well.

They are being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Edwards is being held without bond.
