MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A man was shot Saturday morning after he met with a woman in a Doubletree hotel room in Silver Spring, expecting to have sex with her.

The victim was shot by the woman’s male companion, who surprised the victim when he entered the hotel room. The suspect announced he was robbing the victim, shot him, then fled with the woman. Police are unsure if any money changed hands before the shooting. The victim met the woman based on a pre-arranged agreement.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say they are still investigating, but the crime was definitely planned, and that Silver Spring residents are not in danger of random shootings.

“There’s no danger to you as long as you’re not putting yourself in that kind of a situation,” said Captain Paul Sparks, spokesman for the Montgomery County Police.
