Woman crashes into MTA officer’s cruiser

BELTSVILLE, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a collision with a Maryland Transportation Authority (MTA) Police Officer in Prince George’s County. That incident occurred on Tuesday night.

According to officials, a trooper from the Maryland State Police, College Park Barrack arrived on the scene of a collision in the northbound lane of I-95 at Route 200 in Beltsville, Maryland. As the trooper was handling that collision, an MTA Police Officer arrived to assist the trooper. All of the vehicles involved in the first collision were parked on the right side of the roadway, away from traffic. The MTA officer was sitting in the driver’s seat in his marked Chevy Caprice patrol vehicle with his emergency lights activated. The driver of a Chevy Cruise collided with the driver’s side of the officer’s cruiser. The driver of the Cruise fled the scene after the collision.

Police say that troopers were able to locate the vehicle driving north on I-95 and a traffic stop was initiated. Officer arrested the driver for suspected impaired driving. They have identified the driver as Carol Reed, 43.
