Police investigate pedestrian collision

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating a pedestrian collision that occurred Tuesday night in Rockville, Maryland.

Officials say that around 7:16 p.m. on Tuesday, officers arrived in the area of Rockville Pike and E. Middle Lane after reports of a collision. After a preliminary investigation, police found that a 2001 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Rockville Pike. A pedestrian was crossing the road, heading west in the direction of E. Middle Lane when she they were struck by the Honda. Police have identified the driver as of the Honda as Raphael Olegarion, 43, and the pedestrian as Marchell Lindsey Edwards, 28. Edwards was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to officials, the investigation in this case is currently ongoing. As of yet, it is not known what the traffic signal indicated at the time of the collision or whether the pedestrian was in the crosswalk.
