Man arrested in Georgetown for sexual assault

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Police arrested a man on Saturday for sexual assault after they witnessed him grope a woman in Georgetown.

The suspect, Sergio Velaquez-Cardozo, 34, was spotted by police in the act of a sexual assault, due to heightened patrols in the area after multiple reports of other sexual assaults.

Police do not yet know if Velaquez-Cardozo was responsible for the other assaults reported in the area. He has been charged with third degree sexual abuse.
