DULLES, Va. — Law enforcement from all over Northern Virginia participated Saturday in the “plane pull”, an event that fundraises for the Special Olympics.

According to the Dulles Day Plane Pull website, the event involves “pitting teams of 25 against one another to see who can pull a 164,000+ pound Airplane 12 feet the fastest.”

The planes are pulled along the tarmac at Dulles Airport.

Teams include the Fairfax County Police Department, the Alexandria Police Department, the Prince William County Police Department, Stone Bridge High School, and Booz Allen Hamilton, among others.

Each team must raise $1,500 to participate, and the event has raised over $2 million for the Special Olympics in total since its inception in 1993.
