Man killed by train outside Suitland Metro station

UPDATE: Metro officials say that the pedestrian struck by a train outside the Suitland Metro station was pronounced dead the scene. They also confirmed that the victim was an adult male. Crews are awaiting the arrival of the medical examiner.

UPDATE: According to Metro officials, due to a person being struck by a train outside of Suitland Metro station, train service has been suspended between Branch Avenue and Southern Avenue Stations. Bus service is available.

Officials also say that emergency crews are on the scene, working to rescue the person who was struck. There is no information about why the person was on the tracks or the person’s condition.

SUITLAND, Md. – According to Metro, a person has been struck by a train between the Naylor Road and Suitland Metro stations.

At this time, the person’s condition unknown.

Metro officials say riders can expect delays. Trains are currently single tracking between Branch Avenue station and Naylor Road. There are delays in both directions.
