Car accident in Prince George’s County leaves one dead

BOWIE, Md. – The Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in Prince George’s County. The accident left one person dead.

Officials report that the accident occurred shortly before 5:18 a.m. on Wednesday. Maryland State Police responded to a single vehicle collision on the ramp from E/B Route 50 to Collington Road in Bowie, Maryland. When they arrived, they found a Toyota Corolla on the left side of the roadway. The car was on fire, and members of the Prince George’s Fire Department were able to put it out.

Police say the car traveled off the left side of the road, struck a tree, and caught on fire. The crash is still under investigation, and police do not yet know what caused the car to veer off the road and into a tree.
