Abduction and rape in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A lifeguard who was alone at the pool was abducted and raped this afternoon by an unknown man who was carrying a firearm.

The victim, 24, called police after the crime had taken place at around two in the afternoon. The suspect had fled the area, the 200 block of South Pickett St.

He is described as a white male in his mid-thirties, tall and thin, with short hair and dark eyes. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light-colored jeans and a blue baseball cap.

The Alexandria Police Department asks that anyone with information about the incident or this suspect contact Detective Helsa Richmond at 703-746-6613.
