Police investigate homicides after local rapper ambushed, another person murdered

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - The Prince George's County Police Department is investigating two fatal shootings that occurred early Sunday morning. The first shooting occurred in the 3600 block of Parkway Terrace Drive in Suitland, Maryland, while the other took place in the 3600 block of Endsley Place in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

According to officials, police responded to the 3600 block of Parkway Terrace Drive after reports of a shooting around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. When they arrived, they found the victim outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have identified the victim as Douglas Myron Brooks, 18.  Brooks was an up and coming rapper who went by the name Swipey.

At a press conference Monday, police said Brooks was ambushed Sunday morning.  Detectives said four or five male suspects ran towards Brooks while shooting in his direction.  Police said he was struck by multiple bullets.

Police said the second shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. in a house in the 3600 block of Endsley Place. The victim, Damien Rowlett, 22, was transported to a local hospital where he later died. At this time, police have not released any further details.
