Motorcycle crash in Maryland kills one

SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday night near the intersection of University Boulevard and Merrimac Drive in Silver Spring, Maryland. The accident involved a motorcycle and a rental truck .

According to officials, police. as well as Fire and Rescue, responded to the area around 10:30 p.m. after reports of a serious collision. Those on the scene located a black, 1999 Honda motorcycle that had been involved in a crash with a 2011 GMC Savana rental truck. Police say that the preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling east on University Boulevard and the rental truck was traveling south on Merrimac Drive. The two vehicles collided when the truck crossed University Boulevard. The driver of the motorcycle died on the scene.

Police have identified the motorcyclist as Jose Armando Lemus, 23. The driver of the GMC Savana has been identified as Justin Magnus, 28. He did not report any injuries from the accident.

The accident is still under investigation. Police ask that anyone who witnessed this collision or has information about this collision call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
