DC police chief to resign next month; hired by NFL as head of security

WASHINGTON  – After 26 years on the DC Metropolitan Police, Chief Cathy Lanier announced today that she will be leaving the force in September. Lanier spent the last 10 years as chief of police.

News was first released by Tweeter Tuesday morning followed by a press conference later that afternoon.

A letter from the NFL has confirmed that Lanier has taken a position as Senior Vice President of Security.
