Police arrest Forestville homicide suspect

PRINCE GEORGE’S CO., MD – Police have arrested a man in connection to a Forestville homicide.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Divonta Gatling of Southeast Washington. Police say officers were called to the 3200 block of Walters Lane for a shooting at approximately 6:30 a.m.  Wednesday. The officers found the victim, 28-year-old Desean Chapman, with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Officials say the suspect confronted the victim just prior to the fatal shooting. The victim and suspect are acquaintances.

Gatling is charged with second degree murder and assault. He is currently being held without bond.
