UPDATE: According to Baltimore Police, the suspect is in custody and all hostages are okay and accounted for.

BALTIMORE, MD –  A man has barricaded himself and several other people in a Burger King in the 1700 block of Washington Boulevard, according to the Baltimore Police Department. There are four hostages in the Burger King, including a 7-year-old child.

The incident began around 11 a.m. Sunday morning, when police spotted a suspect in a recent rape case on the northwest side of the city, officials say. Police tried to stop the suspect to serve an arrest warrant on the suspect. This led to a police chase to Washing Boulevard and South Monroe Street, near Carroll park, which ended when the suspect hit another car. The person in that car suffered minor injuries.

The suspect continued to flee on foot and barricaded himself in a nearby Burger King. According to police, there are four hostages currently being held in the Burger King. Among those hostages is a 7-year-old child.

Police are negotiating with the suspect and hope for this incident to end peacefully. No other details are available at this time.
