DNC employee identified as victim in D.C. homicide

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on Sunday. The incident occurred in the 2100 block of Flagler Place in Northwest D.C. The victim of the shooting has been identified as Seth Conrad Rich, 27, the Democratic National Committee’s Voter Expansion Data Director.

Officers were patrolling the area on Sunday when they heard gunshots. When they arrived on the scene, police located an adult male victim conscious and breathing, suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

The decedent has been identified as Seth Rich. Officials have reported that Rich served as the Voter Expansion Data Director. In a statement on Monday, the DNC Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said “Our hearts are broken with the loss of one of our DNC family members over the weekend. Seth Rich was a dedicated, selfless public servant who worked tirelessly to protect the most sacred right we share as Americans – the right to vote.”

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
