LAUREL, MD – Howard County Police are searching for Kenneth Frizzell Diggs Jr. for fatally shooting a  woman and injuring a man on July 2.

Police were called to the Turk Motel in Laurel on July 2 for reports of a shooting. Officials say when officers arrived two victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as Amanda Duer, 29, of La Plata and Derick Henderson, 33, of Washington, DC.

Duer was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Henderson was taken to Shock Trauma with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police say he has since been released from the hospital.

Investigators believe that Diggs and the victims knew one another and were involved in a dispute. According to witnesses, Diggs entered the doorway of the victims’ motel room and fired shots at both of them.

Diggs is charged in the arrest warrant with murder, attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, burglary and firearms violations.

There is a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Diggs’ arrest.

Police are releasing two photos of Diggs. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 410-313-STOP or email HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.
