Fireworks cancellations in the DMV

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With rainy weather across the D.C. metro area, several Fourth of July fireworks displays have been cancelled or postponed. Here is a complete list of the cancellations:


The University of Maryland fireworks displayed have been postponed until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday. For full details on that event, including seating and parking, you can visit their site here. 

The Greenbelt fireworks display has been rescheduled for Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m. That display will still be held at Buddy Attick Park. For more information, you can visit their website.

The Gaithersburg fireworks display has been cancelled, to be rescheduled for Friday, July 8. However, if you’d still like to celebrate, the city will have an indoor festival today from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Activity Center in Bohrer Park. There will be live music, games, inflatables, food vendors, and more.

The Annual Frederick’s 4th – An Independence Day Celebration will be closing at 6:30 p.m. The fireworks have been rescheduled for Sunday, July 24th following the Summer Concert Series starting at 7 p.m. You can find more information here. 

The annual fireworks display in Poolesville, Maryland at the corner of Hughes and Sugarland Road have been cancelled. No make up date has been provided. You can see more details here.

District of Columbia: 

The White House has also cancelled the Fourth of July event scheduled to be on the South Lawn. Evening activities will still go on as planned, including performances from Janelle Monae and Kendrick Lamar.
