Detectives investigating deadly crash on I-295

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Detectives identified a 29-year-old man who died in a crash on Interstate 295.

Jeffrey Scales of Brandywine, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which happened on Sunday, June 26, 2016, around 10:42 p.m.

Police said Scales was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe heading north on the highway when he crossed over a grassy median and struck a recessed gulley. Police said the SUV vaulted and landed upside down on a Ford Ranger going south.

D.C. EMS transported the driver of the Ford to a local hospital.  No word on the driver’s condition.
