MONTGOMERY CO., VA – Police are investigating an officer involved crash that occurred Saturday morning in Montgomery County.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. on the left shoulder of northbound Interstate 270. According to police, a Maryland State Trooper was conducting a traffic stop with a black Acura passenger car when a Lexus SUV struck the trooper’s patrol vehicle in the rear. The collision caused the patrol vehicle to strike the black Acura passenger car the trooper had stopped.

The trooper and driver of the Acura were transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore and Suburban Hospital to be treated for injuries, officials say. The driver of the Lexus SUV and the car’s three passengers did not sustain any injuries but were transported to Shady Grove Hospital as a precaution.
