West Virginian Man is indicted in a 1988 murder

LOUDOUN, VA – Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Detectives have identified and indicted a suspect for a 1988 murder.

Timothy W. Warnick, 58, of West Virginia was charged Monday with 1st Degree murder and robbery for the 1988 slaying of Henry E. Ryan.

Ryan was last seen on Friday, September 30, 1988. He was seen leaving a roadside pull off along the Shenandoah River on Bloomery Road in West Virginia. According to witnesses, Ryan went on a beer run with Warnick and another unidentified male and did not return. Ryan’s family reported him missing and on March 14, 1989 his body was found in a shallow grave off of Route 9 in Loudoun County.

An autopsy confirmed that Ryan was murdered. He was 29-years-old at the time.

Warnick is currently in custody in Florida on unrelated charges.
