Three alarm fire breaks out in Fairfax, officials say

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Officials from the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department report that a 3 alarm fire broke out in the 2800 block of Pine Spring Road in Falls Church, Virginia.

According to the Deputy Fire Chief of Fairfax Fire and Rescue, Anthony Barrero, firefighters were dispatched around 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival, they found that eight units had been affected by the fire. Due to the size of the fire, other units were called in, including units from the Arlington County Fire Department. Twelve to fifteen people have been displaced by the incident, and the Red Cross is currently en route to help those affected.

Officials report that one of the police officers originally on the scene was transported to a local hospital for injuries related to smoke inhalation. Another patient was assessed and treated on the scene but not transported.

At this time, the investigation surrounding the incident is ongoing.
