Metro Police: Four shot, officer hit by vehicle

WASHINGTON, DC -- Four men were shot when a gunman opened fire outside the Big Ben liquor store in Northwest, DC,  at the intersection of N. Capitol Street and New York Avenue NW around 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.  Police say a police officer on a bicycle was also struck by a car near the scene.

According to police, the gunman opened fire, shot four men, and ran from the scene.  He is still at large.

While trying to respond to the shooting the officer on the bicycle was hit by a car, but the injuries are considered to be non life-threatening.

The four men that were shot were transported to an area hospital, also with non life-threatening injuries.

Metro Police are looking for a black male, 5'6".  He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, possibly has a mask and  a black Adidas jacket.

This is still an active police scene.  Expect traffic delays due to a heavy police presence.
