ARLINGTON, Va. -- Police are asking for the community’s help, investigators believe a man is trying to abduct children in Arlington, targeting them as they get out of school.

“I feel like everywhere you go now, it is like it is not safe anymore, especially for the kids,” expressed Dwi Marnun as she watched her kids play at a park on N. Park Drive.

Police said the suspect has been reported driving an old navy blue pickup truck and he has been lurking near parks and schools on the Northside and Southside of Arlington.

Since April 7, four cases have been reported, all of them involving children and all of them with similar suspect descriptions. An incident was reported on April 7 in the 5200 block of 8th Road S., on April 19 in the 5200 block of 30th Street N, on May 23 in the 200 block of N. Park Drive, and on May 25 in the 1300 block of N. Stafford Street.  Detectives believe the cases may connected.

Ashley Savage, Acting Public Information Officer with Arlington Police Department, said children’s reports have been fairly consistent when it comes to suspect descriptions.

“Male individual described possibly as a Hispanic male anywhere between 20 and 50 years old,” Savage explained it can be hard for young children to guess ages so right now police are working with a wide age range.

The Arlington County Police Department is actively investigating these incidents. Officers will continue conducting extra checks in the area of these incidents and there will be additional police presence during school dismissals.
