Shooting at Anacostia Metro leaves one injured

WASHINGTON, D.C. – One woman was shot in the leg outside of the Anacostia Metro Station Sunday evening, according to Metro officials.

Around 7:40 p.m. Sunday evening, a woman approached a Metro Transit Police officer, reporting that an unknown male shot her in the leg. The incident occurred at the entrance to the Anacostia Metro Station, near the bus bay. Metro Transit Police report that the woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. At this time, they do not have a suspect in custody.

Metro service has not been impacted by the shooting. However, the entrance nearest the bus bay remains closed while police investigate the scene. There is street entrance to the metro station that riders can use.
