Police chase in D.C. leaves one officer injured

WASHINGTON, D.C. – One Metropolitan Police officer sustained minor injuries while in pursuit of a suspect, according to officials. The incident occurred at 45th and Quarles Street in Northeast, D.C.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday, officers from the Sixth District initiated the chase of a suspect who was wanted for a felony assault on an officer, say police. The Seventh District picked up the chase. During that chase, the suspect hit several vehicles, including two Metropolitan Police cruisers. One officer, who was inside one of those cruisers, sustained minor injuries.

The suspect was apprehended by police at the 3rd Street Tunnel, near the Massachusetts Avenue exit.
