WASHINGTON, D.C. –¬†According to the Metropolitan Police Department, one Good Samaritan was injured as he tried to help a woman who fell from the 295 Anacostia Freeway bridge on Saturday morning. Both the woman and the man who helped her were treated on the scene and transported to Prince George’s Hospital.

The incident took place Saturday morning near the 295 Anacostia Freeway Bridge. The police report states that three men who were on the scene witnessed the woman fall from the overpass in what looked like a suicide attempt. When the three men approached to help the woman, a man, later identified as the woman’s boyfriend, began to fight with them. He told them to get way from “his girl,” according to the report. The male suspect pulled a gun on the three men attempting to help the woman. While one of the men got the gun away from the suspect, a round fired in an unknown direction. Soon after, the male suspect got into his car and fled the scene.

As the male suspect drove away, he struck one of the men with his car, causing a serious injury. Both the man who was injured and the woman were treated and transported to the hospital.
