Over 200,000 flags placed at Arlington Cemetery with Memorial Day ahead
ARLINGTON, Va. – With Memorial Day coming up, Arlington Cemetery held a “Flags-In” Thursday to honor fallen heroes buried at the site.
Within four hours, over 230,000 flags were placed in front of every headstone and Columbarium and niche wall column at the cemetery.
Vice President Mike Pence and U.S. Senator Tom Cotton were among the many who participated.
“For more than 60 years, soldiers from the Old Guard have honored our nation’s fallen heroes by placing U.S. flags at gravesites for service members buried at both Arlington National Cemetery and U.S. Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery prior to Memorial Day weekend,” said Arlington Cemetery in a tweet.
Over 1,000 soldiers helped out with the tradition.
