Dog dies, firefighters injured in D.C. house fire

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A dog died and two firefighters were injured in a Northwest, D.C. fire Saturday, officials say.

Firefighters responded to the 1600 block of Columbia Road around 7:40 p.m. for an apartment fire.

The fire originated in the kitchen and was accidental, fire officials say.

Two firefighters were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

No other injuries were reported.
