Police investigate Bethesda mall shooting

MONTGOMERY CO. – Police say they are investigating a shooting that happened at a Bethesda mall parking lot Friday night.

Police responded to a report of shots fired around 7:08 in the parking lot of Westfield Montgomery Mall, officials say.

When they arrived, police say they found evidence of a shooting including shell casings and vehicles that had been struck by bullets.  Police interviewed witnesses and no shooting victims were located.

An investigation revealed that two groups of men got into a verbal argument that started off mall property but ended up on mall property. Shots were fired by one or more subjects and then the subjects fled the area.

Police said Saturday they do not believe this shooting was a random event and only involved the subjects engaged in the argument.
