Human skeletal remains found in Fairfax Co.
FAIRFAX CO. – Detectives found suspected human skeletal remains in Alexandria Thursday morning, police say.
A construction crew found the remains at the 2900 block of East Lee Avenue around 10:15 a.m., and homicide and crime scene detectives were on the scene shortly after.
The workers were in the process of cleaning up a wooded area next to a business under construction. They came across a wallet with an identification listing the address of a shelter. Shortly after, they found the remains.
Detectives are in the early stages of this investigation and will work with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to confirm the identity of the remains and cause of death.
