LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – Officials say the driver accused of killing a baby being pushed across the street in a stroller in Loudoun County was sentenced Thursday.

Court records show that John Miller IV was sentenced to 12 months in jail and will also have to pay a $2750.00 fine. Back in October, Miller plead guilty to reckless driving and endangerment charges, and earlier in 2017, prosecutors dropped an initial charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The crash happened back in August of 2016. Deputies say the mother was pushing her five-month old baby across the street in a stroller when the accident happened. The two were in a marked cross walk. Miller’s car was making a turn and ran into them. The child was killed and the mother suffered serious injuries in that accident.
