Carjacking suspects apprehended in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX, VA., –  Two teens are facing several charges after Fairfax Police Department’s Helicopter the  “eye in the sky, Fairfax 1”, helped officers on the ground apprehend the suspects.

An investigation shows  Andonis Martinez Turcios, 19, and another suspect who is 17-years-old, both of Alexandria, stole a Honda Accord Wednesday morning from a driveway of a Prince William County home.

They drove to the 6700 block of Hopewell Avenue in Springfield where they crashed into several parked cars which caused the stolen car to breakdown. The suspects then left the car behind and approached a woman who was sitting in her sedan. They took out a knife to intimidate her and steal her car but they were ultimately unsuccessful and ran away from the area.

Officers arrived at the scene and began searching for the suspects when their helicopter quickly picked up a man matching the description. He was walking on a trail in the woods. The helicopter guided an officer to the suspect, who immediately surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

Patrol officers caught the other suspect in the 6800 block of Commercial Drive.

Turcios was charged with attempted carjacking, gang participation, possession of stolen property and hit and run. The other 17-year-old boy was charged with attempted carjacking, gang participation, possession of stolen property and failure to report an accident.
