“A sex chamber on wheels”: Silver Spring man guilty of sexual solicitation of a minor

ROCKVILLE, MD. -- A Silver Spring, Md. man was found guilty Wednesday of sexual solicitation of a minor for an incident in 2017 involving a 15-year-old girl. Prosecutors said it was the latest example of his alarming behavior.

Daniel Dickson, 33, faces up to 10-years in prison and may be ordered to register as a sex offender when he is sentenced on March 8, 2018.

Prosecutors said that on June 5, 2017, Dickson approached a 15-year-old girl and her 19-year-old sister outside Loiederman Middle School in Silver Spring, Md. and asked them to perform oral sex. The victims said he continued to ask them, even after they told him they were minors.

The victims added they would see Dickson park his car outside the school at least two times a week in the mornings.

Prosecutors said the victims were able to shoot video of his van as he left, which helped police find him.

"He had this mattress in the back of his minivan, which really could have been a sex chamber on wheels if you will," said Montgomery County State's Attorney Spokesman Ramon Korionoff. He added police also found bottles of body spray and numerous condoms in the van.

Korionoff added that this was not first time Dickson had been investigated for this sort of thing.

"Since 2013, he has been parking his van or his car outside of local middle and high schools," said Korionoff, who added that in 2013, Dickson followed a 17-year-old girl in the same neighborhood and that when police talked to Dickson about it, he admitted that he would follow girls around to pick them up and did not care if they were juveniles. Korionoff said police warned him to stop. "And they told him don’t hang out and loiter in front of schools and it seems that through these few years he’s escalated in his behavior."

Dickson is being held without bond until he is sentenced.
