WASHINGTON, D.C. - A Metro train with 60 passengers on-board derailed this morning, officials say.
Metro says a Red Line train derailed around 6:40 a.m. outside the Farragut North Station. No injuries were reported.
D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the incident and said there was no fire or smoke involved. Firefighters safely evacuated all passengers from the train.
Senator Tim Kaine spoke out about the incident on Twitter saying, "I'm grateful to hear that there have been no injuries reported but I am asking for more information from WMATA to find out how and why this happened."
