Nearly-dead dog found by Fairfax Police makes incredible recovery

FAIRFAX CO. – Just over a month ago, Fairfax County Police found an abandoned 1-year-old black retriever, named Max, in Centreville who only weighed 23 pounds and was not expected to survive.

At the time, he was emaciated, lethargic, unable to stand alone or hold up his head, extremely dehydrated, barely alive, and with urine scalding all over his body. He had no collar or microchip.

On Wednesday, Fairfax Police said Max weighs 45 pounds and is a happy, playful, friendly dog.

He is in medical foster care and not available for adoption

Animal Protection Police need your help to find Max’s owner.
